This past week in France has been incredible. Visiting with friends, the students on this retreat, the food, the countryside, the conversation — it has all been so soulful and downright healing. Having the opportunity to guide such beautiful people through this amazing experience? I’ve been on cloud nine and rising.
It’s funny though. I wake up and my mind will try to worry. It will attach itself to my everyday concerns back home. Uncertainties will creep into the corners of my heart.
Just because you travel across the planet, this doesn’t mean you leave your everyday tendencies behind. Oh no, my friends, they travel with you!
I’m not going to pretend like I’m not the recovering perfectionist, worry wart who lives in Toronto. I love that girl. She’s who I am – warts and all as they say 😉
But the beauty of travel? Your engaging surroundings are often so stunning and unique, they act like a white backdrop against black thoughts. Being immersed in the gorgeousness of France has allowed me to challenge this mindset by saying to myself, “Jelayna, you just woke up in a Chateau, in the South of France! Chill out girl, and enjoy this incredible ride!”
The lesson I’m left with? Applying this to my everyday life back home. My plan? When I arrive back home I will say,
“Jelayna! You just woke up in your safe, warm bed. Now you get to go and do what you love to do for a living! Chill out girl and enjoy the ride”
The best way to do this I find, is practicing presence and fully immersing yourself in your surroundings. So today’s blog is short and sweet. I have exploring to do!
Wherever you go, there you are. And oh the places you’ll go <3
